4 Kingdoms, Headley: day and night

4 Kingdoms Adventure Park, on Newbury Road at Headley, is the closest big Halloween event to the town, about three and a half miles south-east and just over the Hampshire border. It runs two different things:

  • The Pumpkin Patch by day, on 10, 11, 17 and 18 October and every day from 24 to 31 October. It comes with a maize maze, a scare maze and costumed characters, plus full use of the park’s normal attractions. The park’s day hours are 10am to 4.30pm, and its online advance price for September onwards is £15 for adults and children aged 2 to 16, plus a 65p booking fee (ticket prices). One exception: it closes at 4pm on Sunday 18 October.
  • Halloween Nights, 6pm to 9pm, on 9, 10, 16 and 17 October and every night from 23 to 31 October, for £10. This is the after-dark version: scare mazes, Dinos in the Dark, the pumpkin patch and “spooky surprises”.

New for 2026 is a £20 combo ticket on selected dates: entry from 2.30pm, the daytime Halloween activities, a break in the café or soft play from 4.30pm to 6pm, then Halloween Nights. An Any Day ticket is also sold for flexibility. Pumpkins you take home are paid for separately. Parking is free on site.

Wasing: pick your own pumpkins and a woodland trail

Wasing Estate, on Wasing Lane near Aldermaston, runs its annual Pick Your Own Pumpkins and Woodland Trail on 16 to 18 October and 23 to 31 October 2026. It is the most traditional pumpkin field of the lot: a woodland trail with a wishing well and a “Witch’s Apothecary”, then a wheelbarrow and an organic pumpkin field, then food in a stretch tent (estate beef pasties, pumpkin soup, crêpes, doughnuts and pizza).

  • Tickets: £6.50 for ages 2 and over on weekdays, £7.50 at weekends. Under-2s are free but still need a ticket.
  • Timed entry slots, chosen when you book.
  • Free in-field parking. Bring wellies.

Beale Wildlife Park: included with entry

Beale Wildlife Park at Lower Basildon includes its Pumpkin Patch, a decorated Halloween woodland walk and a maize maze in normal admission, 10am to 3pm from Saturday 24 October to Sunday 1 November. Members get in free. Pumpkins to take home are extra. Every day of half term there are also Spooky Crafts from 11am to 2pm, a Mini-Beasts session at 2pm and a £1 Halloween Trail, added when you book online.

One inconsistency on the park’s own page: its banner reads “17th to 18th, and 24th to 31st October”, while the text beneath says the patch is open during half term, 24 October to 1 November. If you are aiming for the weekend of 17 and 18 October, check with the park before you go.

Berkshire Farm Girl, near Curridge

Eleanor Gilbert, who farms as Berkshire Farm Girl, opens her Pumpkin Patch and Maize Trail for a fourth year at Rookery Farms, RG18 9LS, about two and three quarter miles north of Newbury. It is a working arable farm, and the ticket covers a themed maize and bale trail, a big bale maze, pedal tractors, a pumpkin carving area, “Meet the farmer” daily at 1.15pm and free parking. Pumpkins start at £1, Halloween crafts are £3 to £4 a head, under-18-month-olds go free and the booking fee is capped at £1.20 a booking. Dogs on leads are welcome on the last slot of each day.

The farm says it opens on “select dates throughout October” and books online only. Its dates, times and ticket prices sit inside its booking system rather than on the page, and we could not read them, so check there before you set off.

The Living Rainforest: potions and bug tasting

The Living Rainforest at Hampstead Norreys runs half-term activities from Monday 26 to Friday 30 October: animal feeds, potion making, spooky crafts and lunchtime bug tasting, with fancy dress welcome. All of it is included in the Rainforest Pass, which is now an annual pass with timed visit slots. Its Poisons and Potions trail through the glasshouses is already open, with a £1.50 booklet in two versions, for ages 4 to 7 and 7 and up (trail details). Session times go on the centre’s social media.

In town: theatre, concerts and parties

  • Halloween in Concert, Friday 23 October, 7.30pm, Corn Exchange Newbury, £34.25 (Blue Light Card £21.25), suitable for all ages, 2 hours 20 minutes (Corn Exchange).
  • Play in Two Days: Spooky Stories, Thursday 29 and Friday 30 October, 9am to 4pm, the Watermill Theatre, Bagnor, £100, ages 5 to 11. Children make and rehearse a Halloween play and perform it to their families “without any nightmares” (The Watermill).
  • For under-fives and families at Tiny Town Café: Taste Safe Messy Play “with a touch of spook” on Monday 26 October (£8.50), a Takedown Demon Hunter Party on Wednesday 28 October from 5pm (£20) and a Thriller Party on Friday 30 October from 5.30pm (£14), as listed on Visit Newbury. Book through Tiny Town.
  • For adults: TUXchange Halloween Bingo at The Club Bar and Lounge on Friday 23 October, 7.30pm, £10, and a free Halloween party with Sion Whiley at The Lock Stock and Barrel on Saturday 31 October from 8.30pm (Visit Newbury).

What we could not confirm

  • A Newbury town-centre Halloween trail. Newbury BID has run a Ghost Town shop trail and a Psycho Path pub trail in past years, but on 3 October its 2026 calendar listed neither. If it announces one, we will add it here.
  • Basildon Park. The National Trust’s pages blocked us on 3 October, so we have not listed its half-term activities. Check the property’s own page.
  • Berkshire Farm Girl’s dates and prices, which are only in its booking system.

Getting there

4 Kingdoms and Wasing are south-east of the town, towards Basingstoke and Aldermaston. Beale Park is east, near Pangbourne, and Rookery Farms and the Living Rainforest are north, towards Chieveley and Hampstead Norreys. 4 Kingdoms, Wasing and Berkshire Farm Girl all say parking is free. For a trip into town for the theatre or a party, car park tariffs and free periods are on parking in Newbury, and any closures on the approaches are on Newbury roadworks and travel.

The weekend after Halloween is fireworks weekend: Thatcham’s display is on Friday 6 November and the Newbury Lions’ at the racecourse on Saturday 7 November. Details and prices are on our fireworks page.
